It’s fascinating how Spielberg took the same basic ingredients of the original short story and came to the opposite conclusion that Phillip K. Dick did.

I’ll say it, there’s a lot in Spielberg’s work that implies that he shares a lot of common ground with Christianity!

This movie still haunts me, especially when centralized authority decides people's fates without trial. It is so important.

I've never heard of this movie, but after reading this, I'm adding it to my list. I also love that you wove in your thoughts about the concept of "timshel" from East of Eden. Lee is a favorite character of mine as well.

I am looking forward to the Netflix miniseries adaptation of East of Eden mainly because they’re actually going to include Lee, unlike the original movie.

I've not seen the original (East of Eden) movie, but it's a shame they didn't include Lee. He is so generous and wise. I may have to check out the Netflix version; I didn't know about it.

Yes, and unlike the movie its actually going to cover the full story, instead of just the last third
